Hello!
I thought we should tell you a little about Denheath, how we started and where we are now!
Donald and I have been running Denheath Desserts since October 1999.
Previously we manufactured in "The Old Post Office Cafe" in Pleasant Point. Where people cam from far and wide to sample our Uniquely different, our fluffy high rise melt-in-your-mouth rich creamy custard filled
Squares, complemented with golden flaky pastry and yummy icing topped with
Curly-white shredded coconut.
The opportunity arose to move Denheath Desserts to a purpose built manufacturing plant in Timaru in November 2000. At that time the old post office cafe (Denheath House) was leased out and later sold.
Donald and I took over the business and Trademarked Denheath because my mother became terminally ill with Cancer. Mum had a dream that Denheath and Denheath Custard Squares could become a nationally or internationally known and we wanted to show her we were going to try and make that happen for her! At the time Donald was a professional musician and we had recently had our first baby together (Majick). My mum was able to finish work, sort out her affairs and have some quality family time, until she passed away in July 2000.
With huge support from Donald's Parents and older children we have been able to grow the business over the past 11 years.
Initially we started as a single product company with the iconic "Original Custard Square". But since then we have developed other decadent goodies and continue to do so. Donald is the brains in the business, innovative in his approach, with a unique enthusiasm and vision that is catchy. I have a real passion for food, baking and cake decorating (both preparing it and eating it!) And I also have the memory of mum and her belief in the custard squares which keeps me going.
